Philip, Simon, and the Power of the Gospel

By Greg Chandler April 30, 2023
As early Christians carried their faith into all parts of the world, they came across some intriguing figures. One of these was a Samaritan sorcerer by the name of Simon. As Philip shared the good news, the people of Samaria, including this magician, believed and were baptized. However, Simon had to learn that salvation entails not only baptism but also putting away those attitudes and actions that characterized the old man of sin. This study will contrast the two men as well as emphasize what Jesus has to offer and the seriousness with which it should be accepted.
