“Watch Your Life and Teaching”
By Greg Chandler May 4, 2025- An appropriate view of the Bible is essential to mature as a citizen of the kingdom. To view it simply as a rule book of “dos and don’ts” misses the great wisdom recorded in its pages, as it directs one to becoming more like God. Viewing the Bible’s wise teachings as optional also misses its prime intention of bringing one to spiritual maturity. In making this point to Timothy, Paul instructed him to “keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching” (I Timothy 4:16). This sermon will explore the intertwined nature of life and teaching (doctrine) not only in the life of a young preacher like Timothy, but in the lives of all who seek to be faithful children of God.
